Love/Hate relation with earthquakes
In February of 2010 a big earthquake happened
in Chile and the epicenter was in the south of the country. That was my first
experience with that kind of phenomenon and was very scary. I think that since
that day I became in a person that hates earthquakes because they scare me a
lot.
In September of 2015 another earthquake
occurred, but this time it was less strong and the epicenter located in the
north of Chile, specifically in a little village called “Canela”. That place is
very close to the village where my grandmother lives so that year my family and
I have to travel quickly to my grandmother’s house. Fortunately she was ok, but
her house wasn’t. It was a house made of adobe so with the movement it became
inhabitable. Was so difficult to my grandmother see how her house was demolished
because she had lived all her live there. I remember that earthquake coincided
with national holidays –Fiestas Patrias- so for that reason the “fondas” were
suspended.
If you don’t know what “fondas” mean, let me
tell you that are places that sell typical food and drinks during Fiestas
Patrias. One of the best-selling drinks is called “Terremoto” (“Earthquake”) but
that kind of earthquake doesn’t scare me so much, in fact I love it! Hahaha… But
let me tell you that after the 3rd Terremoto you should be scared
haha…
Few days left to national holidays and I hope
that doesn’t repeat what happened in 2015. And also I hope that you taste and
enjoy the “Terremotos” at fondas as I enjoy it! But remember… after the third
drink, be careful.
earthquakes scare me a lot too :(
